Overview
A smooth welded, 6061 alloy frame with butted tube profiles sits at the core of the ADV 8.9 Adventure bike. To complement its clean aesthetic, the frames, thinned tubes, and carbon fork play their part in reducing weight and improving ride quality.
In addition to its engaging and responsive handling, the ADV's versatility shines through. It boasts hidden mounts for full-length mudguards, fixings for a pannier rack, dropper post routing, and bottle and storage fixings on the top tube, seat tube, downtube and fork legs.
The Boardman ADV 8.9 is fitted with Shimano's dedicated gravel-specific GRX series groupset. A GRX 10-speed drivetrain that benefits from adventure-specific ergonomics and optimised gearing.
The double 30/46 tooth chainset and the 10-speed, 11-36 tooth cassette at the rear offer ample gear choices, allowing you to maintain power and speed on the flat while keeping cadence high on climbs.
The Boardman ADV alloy wheelset is tubeless ready, designed to be run tubeless .. less. All you need is sealant and valves!
Goodyear's 40mm gravel-specific Connector is the ADV 8.9's tyre of choice. Designed as a fast-rolling all-terrain tyre, its versatile tread pattern with tightly-spaced centre knobs and aggressive side knobs delivers straight-line momentum whilst retaining grip demands when the direction changes or the route gets technical.
Flared alloy handlebars allow for an optimal ergonomic hand position on the hoods, more control whilst in the drops and facilitates more frontal space to carry additional luggage.
Whether rolling over pot-holed lanes or heading off the beaten track, comfort is key, and the Boardman ADV saddle is a plush place to perch. A wider rear section and pressure relief channel help balance fatigue-beating comfort with the right level of firmness for an effective pedalling platform.
