Overview
As with the rest of the updated MTR range, the 9.0 benefits from a longer top tube and slacker head angle than its predecessor. These changes improve handling and stability, keeping you in charge as you push the limits. The steeper seat angle also keeps your weight centralised in the bike during steep climbs, improving pedalling efficiency and traction on more demanding terrain. Internal cable routing keeps things looking clean, and a UDH hanger as a standard reduces concerns about replacements if the bike takes a slam.
The legendary RockShox Pike fork delivers 130mm of smooth, air-tuneable travel. The fork provides top-tier performance thanks to its 35mm stanchions, a Debonair air spring, and Premium bushings.
A custom-tuned RockShox Deluxe Ultimate rear shock is paired with the Pike fork. Combined with the MTR's progressive suspension curve, the bike delivetyres and rs incredible levels of grip and outstanding support through large compressions and drops. With the new DebonAir+ air spring offers more volume tunability than ever to the damper's independent Low-Speed Compression and Rebound adjustments, the power is in your hands to dial in the perfect-for-you, perfect-for-the-trail-ahead settings
The MTR 9.0's SLX 12-speed groupset features a wide 10-51 tooth cassette with HYPERGLIDE+ technology, developed to enhance shifting whilst under load. A SLX 12-speed RAPIDFIRE PLUS shifter makes gear selection swifter and simpler thanks to its lighter action and 2-way release function, and when the SLX M7100 derailleur is paired with both, you can take full advantage of the silent, stable, dependable performance for which the SLX groupset is renowned.
Shifting is courtesy of Shimano’s 12-speed SLX groupset with a 10-51t cassette giving crisp shifting and huge range – long steep climbs are no problem with this set up. Braking is also taken care of with Shimano SLX 4-piston calipers combined with 203/180mm rotors front and rear delivering plenty of power with outstanding modulation.
A front Maxxis Dissector paired with a rear Rekon is the perfect "fit and forget" choice for the MTR 9.0, chosen with UK conditions in mind. Designed specifically for the demands of modern shorter-travel trail bikes, they feature versatile tread patterns that roll fast on firm trail centre surfaces but provide enough grip when the local forest becomes a boggy in winter.
The 9.0 is equipped with the uprated folding bead tubeless versions of the Dissector and Rekon. They feature the Maxxis EXO sidewall protection, which is a tough, cut-resistant material added to the tyre's sidewalls to protect the rubber on the rockiest trails. In addition to the EXO, the tyres are made from a dual rubber compound, providing incredible grip and minimal rolling resistance.
A wide, tubeless-ready WTB STi30 wheelset supports the Maxxis tyres, and sealed cartridge bearing hubs keep them rolling through unpredictable British weather.
